Lagos - A 59-year old prisoner who died undergoing life imprisonment at a maximum security prison in Lagos has been raised from the dead by a Nigerian pastor, a prison official said on Wednesday.

The modern day Lazarus, Nnamdi Okafor, was a native of Onitsha in Anambra state and sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in a criminal case, he said.

Okafor’s health started deteriorating in the jail on Monday and following the advice of the prison’s in-house doctor, he was admitted at a government hospital, where he died on Wednesday, the official said.

On the way to the mortuary, the ambulance the former deceased was traveling in got into an accident with a pastor, Adesoye Adetunji, who proceeded to pray over Okafor and to the amazement of everyone came back to life, he said.

According to the official, Okafor has once again been remanded in the maximum security prison where he is expected to finish out his sentence.
