ABUJA - A black man, Usman Usman, on Wednesday said he is interested in running for president in the 2023 general elections if the Democratic Progressive Party of Nigeria allow it.

Speaking with reporters, Usman said that he was motivated to contest for the presidency because he enjoys being in charge.

Usman, 73, noted that he was the first from his zone to declare his interest in running for president and that this was a mission to create generational wealth.

He will now be considered among the frontrunners to succeed the incumbent president in May next year if he wins the party primaries.

There have been mixed reactions amongst Nigerians with many expressing disgust, while others supported his ambition on social media.
